Kat is our senior commercial and civil litigation lawyer representing clients in a variety of commercial, building and consumer law-related matters.

Kat is a practical yet technical lawyer with commercial acumen and is dedicated to providing value for money, personalised service to her clients and provides the firm valuable experience in the areas of building law, contract law, corporations law, tort law (negligence), intellectual property law, privacy law, farming disputes, estate disputes, franchise disputes and general civil litigation. She has also had experience acting for clients in personal injuries law, criminal law, family law, human rights law, health law, employment law and defence work in planning and environmental prosecutions.

Kat is also a keen researcher and enjoys finding nuances in the law, pushing boundaries and going that “extra mile” for her clients. Kat was a Law Institute of Victoria Regional Lawyer of the Year finalist in 2016 and had been the Secretary of the Ballarat and District Law Association for several years. She is also the Lawyer Member on the Ballarat Health Services and St John of God Human Research Ethics Committee and
a member of the Building Dispute Practitioners Society.

Kat made the move to the Ballarat region during the last leg of her law degree. She was born and bred in Melbourne but later chose to enjoy the good life in rural Victoria. She graduated law with first class honours and completed her practical legal training at Saines Lucas Solicitors in 2011 and has been with the Firm ever since.

During her studies, Kat also competed in mooting competitions both domestically and internationally. She was a semi-finalist in the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna in 2008, where she was up against 204 universities from around the world and is very competitive by nature.

Kat also holds a Bachelor Degree in Health Science majoring in Public and Environmental Health and has achieved several academic awards in both her Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Law degrees.

Bilingual, Kat speaks Hungarian and has lived in Budapest for 12 months.She has also had experience working in the retail and fashion industries and has been to China to perform presentations to law schools and government agencies.

Her idea of relaxation involves spending quality time with her family, friends and Labradors enjoying fine food and wine and travelling the countryside. Kat is a devoted mother and wife and enjoys bushwalking, surfing and gardening with her family.
