Nicholas Lyons, Personal Injury Claims Specialist

Office P (03) 5332 1584 (03) 5333 1467

Nick moved from Melbourne, where he grew up, to Ballarat in 1991. He completed his law and arts degrees at Monash University, graduating in 1989.

Nick joined the partnership in 1996 and when the then Senior Partner, Ron Saines left in 2002, Nick took over as Managing Principal, a position he still holds in the firm.

Nick has practised extensively in all types of personal injury litigation for the last 30 years, and exclusively in that area for more than 25 years, after cutting his teeth on criminal and general civil litigation and disputes, and employment law in his early years. His areas of particular interest are Workers Compensation (WorkCover), motor accidents (TAC) and Public/Occupiers Liability (slipping & tripping cases) Claims and litigation.

In 2005 Nick sat examinations set by the Law Institute of Victoria and became a qualified accredited specialist in Personal Injury Law. Nick was also voted by his peers in the annual Doyles Guide to the Best Lawyers in Australia, in 2018 and 2019 as one of the best  TAC and WorkCover Injury Lawyers in Victoria and is the only such Lawyer to hold that Award in Ballarat and Western Victoria.

Nick is also on the Victorian Branch Committee of the Australian Lawyers Alliance, a national organisation focusing on maintaining and furthering the rights and interests of injured people and the community generally.

Nick has always had a close affiliation with the Ballarat Trades Hall where we are still proud to have an office and assists, as does our firm generally, injured workers and union members with advice and legal services as required. He supports the Labour movement through Trades Hall functions, events, fundraisers and political campaigns whenever the occasion arises, as does our firm.

Nick hates to see injustice, particularly when there is a large imbalance of power between injured people and large insurers, corporate entities or government bodies. He is determined to use his skills and considerable experience to obtain the best results for injured people and their families.

Nick has two children, one at University and the other at Secondary School in Ballarat.  Nick was proud to call Ballarat his home for 25 years before moving to Bacchus Marsh recently to enjoy a small rural property. He keeps a keen eye on local activities and events. He is a passionate golfer, off single figures, and a member of a local golf club. He is also an avid follower of the Hawthorn Football Club and is a  keen cyclist and runner.
