As a result of the recent Federal Royal Commission into institutional sexual abuse, Governments across Australia, including our own State Government, have introduced the Sexual Assault Redress Scheme effective from 1 July, 2018.

The Royal Commission held extensive hearings in Ballarat since a number of schools and religious institutions harboured offenders, many of whom have since been convicted and jailed for multiple offences against many victims from the Ballarat area.

Applications for compensation can be made to the State Redress Scheme by persons who were sexually abused as children in institutions in Victoria, including schools, charitable and religious institutions.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Only claimants who are Australian citizens or permanent residency;
  • The abuse must have occurred prior to 1 July, 2018;
  • Participating institutions – where the institution or organisation has signed up to the scheme.

We are already acting for a number of claimants under the scheme.  Any persons wishing to lodge claims or enquire about compensation available are welcome to make a no obligation appointment with one of our experienced personal injury Solicitors.

We offer a “no win, no fee” terms for eligible claimants.
